Sure blueberries are tasty, but did you know how healthy they were? They contain phytonutrients, polyphenols, carotenoids, fiber, niacin, folate, vitamin C, vitamin D, manganese, iron, riboflavin, potassium and more….

There have been various studies and claims about the powers of blueberries including, but not limited to – improving memory, preventing cancer, enhancing coordination and balance to curing both constipation and diarrhea.

A study published in 2010 found that rats fed blueberries had significantly more bone mass than the rats who had no blueberries in their diet.

Other studies show that blueberries reduce cholesterol in hamsters.

If you can’t get your hands on some blueberries, purple grapes, cranberries, raspberries, strawberries and blackberries are great back-ups.

Buen Provecho!
